Thanks to the team for a lovely training event in Melbourne at our Hunt Leather store.  After 35 years selling Longchamp we’re now training salespeople from outside our own stores, across the country. It’s fun to share the passion for such a terrific family company and see the enthusiasm for the brand, across all ages…

Advice

Today’s advice, from an Italian working for a German supplier of ours:

“No panic.

Just a suggestion.

Add a little bit of Sambucca in the coffee.

It helps a lot, to adjust the view

If you do not like coffee it’s not a problem…

Ciao ciao…”

Lovely picture in this month’s Notebook Magazine, of our classic Hunt Shopper in “sand”.  We first had these made for us in Colombia over twenty years ago, and my parents travelled there a few times in order to meet with the factory.  Originally they were inspired by the brown paper bag that groceries used to go in, but over the years we’ve added a few details such as lovely bright lining, a magnetic closure, a zip pocket on the inside, and a phone pocket of course…

We’ve had a lot of fun watching the genius Charlie create our new “face” online. Thanks Charlie…

Brisbane is on the map

Loved the article on Brisbane architecture in  Monocle’s March issue, with a lovely picture of our friend and architect Adrian Spence.  Adrian and his partner Ingrid Richards opened their own practice last year and have some very exciting projects underway.  Adrian designed our Hunt Leather store in the MLC centre in 2007, and our Hunt Leather Perth store last year.  Now for Melbourne and Brisbane….

Maybe next week…

It’s all the myriad ways that the volcanic cloud is affecting the world that are so gob-smacking.  Like the Chilean strawberry growers who can’t get their goods to Europe, and the salmon going off at Heathrow, the Kenyan fruit and vegie growers.  Our latest Longchamp shipment is stuck in France, and gloves from our little Italian supplier in Naples seem to be caught up as well.  At least our shipments will be just as good in a week or two, so we’ve fingers crossed for all the people around the world so badly caught up by the ash.

Meanwhile our lovely Il Bisonte shipment managed to sneak out the day before the volcano, and arrived into our warehouse today – leather duffles, briefcases, messenger bags, wristbands, double wrap watches, and lots of wallets.  Current favourite – the red frame top clutch with a zip on the back, room inside for a card or two and lots of other wallet-y stuff.

Lupo landed

Spring Summer 2010 is landing this week – so pretty, soft, unusual – as you’d expect from the Barcelona family.  Specially love the zipped Abanico bag, so you can hide away your “bling” tendencies when you feel like it!

Hunt Luggage, back to the future

The Hunt Luggage store in Sydney

We’ve converted our store in Elizabeth Street Sydney from a monobrand Tumi store to the original Hunt Leather concept – the very best luggage in the world, in our opinion, in one place.  Tumi, Longchamp, Rimowa, Bric’s, and even Harry the Hippo and a few Panama hats for the inveterate travellers…  Looks gorgeous and so far, very good!

Longchamp’s beautiful flagship Soho store is as amazing as ever.  Designed by Thomas Heatherwick and opened in 2006, it was exciting to see the Kate Moss for Longchamp and Spring 2010 collections in such a breathtaking space.

The Longchamp store on Madison Avenue is under complete reconstruction…  watch this space.
